Bilan Carbone®
A VOLUNTARY APPROACH TO REDUCE AS OF TODAY YOUR DEPENDENCE ON FOSSILE FUELS
MEETING THE CHALLENGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE FOR TOMORROW
SME Environment is authorized to implement the BILAN CARBONE™
method, developed by ADEME (Agence de l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise
de l’Energie), in order to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of
your organization: industrial or tertiary sector enterprise, public agency,
institution or territory.
The main GHG emissions include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous
oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), perfluorocarbon (CnF2n+2), sulphur
hexafluoride (SF6).
SME Environment will assess, in 6 steps, your dependence on fossile fuels
in order to anticipate energy cost fluctuations and to limit the impact
of your activity on the climate. All greenhouse gas emissions related to
your activity will be accounted for.
Calculation spreadsheets, based on emission factors (the unit used to convert
activity data into GHG emissions), are designed to quantify and rank GHG
emissions item per item, in carbon equivalent tons, from your available
activity data (energy bills, quantity of materials purchased, km travelled):
SME Environment stands on your side to:
- manage data collection;
- lead your work meetings,
- develop a carbon assessment, identify action priorities;
- suggest and develop argumentation for possible action plans;
- help you to select and implement your action plan.
A specific module is designed to measure your enterprise’s sensitivity to
energy cost fluctuations and GHG emission taxes.
In France, the intervention of SME Environment can give rise to financial
assistance by ADEME (contact your regional
ADEME delegation).
