Innovative methodologies

At SME Environment, we develop our own systemic risk analysis methods, plus computation codes proven by testing to meet evolving requirements in the management of technology risks and total safety.

For example, the Denseclat code, designed to quantify the number, mass and range of primary fragments, won the International Grand Prize for Innovation in the Security-Environment category, in a contest organized by the Biennale des Technologies et de Processus Industriel (biannual technology and industrial process forum).

SME Environment works closely with our parent company’s Le Bouchet Research Center to develop our expertise in new areas, as well as drawing on a broad network of laboratories in academia and industry, both in France and abroad.

This work is carried out on behalf of industry, government and professional associations.


SME Environment participates in research programs organized by the French National Research Agency, and the European Unions R&D Framework Programs (PRCD).

We are part of the national center of competitiveness for “Risk management and territorial vulnerability”, and we are helping to draw up the Strategic Agenda for the European Technology Platform for Industrial Safety (ETPIS).
